Jon McCracken in Saturday’s 2-0 home win v Stevenage notched his 9th clean sheet, in his 12 club games since his Summer transfer from Dundee to Bradford City. While selected by Seb Pocognoli for the Scotland squad for the recent international break, Pocognoli didn’t select McCracken for any of the 4 match day squads in that break. We look at McCracken’s Bradford stats to assess his claim to start for Scotland in the forthcoming internationals in November. Stats are from FotMob unless otherwise stated.

In a previous article on GKs, we made the point that McCracken’s stats are helped by the relatively low number of saves he has to make per game. That though was based on league performances.
His stats improve when also including his performances in the League Cup. Those League Cup stats include 6 saves keeping a clean sheet in the 0-0 against a Burnley side from England’s 2nd tier, a division higher than Bradford. Also, Bradford won the penalty shootout 4-2 in which Burnley’s Zeki Amdouni hit the post & McCracken saved from Jacob Bruun Larsen.
